PROCESS
For you:
Now that you have signed your agreement with IWE the next steps are:
Please read the information in this booklet.
Read the IWE Terms & Conditions provided in your contract.
We will email you with a proposed installation date. The typical lead time for
installation is four weeks from receipt of deposit.
Ensure any work you have agreed to complete at your home is done prior to the
installation date.
Please complete monitoring registration prior to installation ( pg 9)
Typical timeline from acceptance to connection:
Day 1 - Acceptance - Sign contract and pay your 50% deposit
Day 1 - Connection application submitted to TasNetworks by IWE
Day 2 - Installation date booked and confirmation email sent by IWE to you
4
Between day 21-28 - Installation completed, tested and switched off until your meter is changed
Day 28 - Electrical Works Request (EWR) application submitted by IWE and STC (Formbay)
signature required from you (see page 7)
Day 35 - Final payment to be made by you within 7 days of installation
Between Day 42-56 - Meter change over by Metering Dynamics and system is switched on
Day 58 - System handover (appointment with IWE if required)
*Please note the above timeline is a guide only and may be subject to change.
Installation process - what to expect
Upon your acceptance of the contract and payment of a 50% deposit, IWE will submit a
connection application to TasNetworks on your behalf.
Installation:
Installers usually arrive between 8-9am. Please be available at this time to go through your
installation. There will also be a form required to sign on the day for the STC rebate.
Upon completion, our installers will give you a brief run through on how your system works and
will require your WiFi network name for your modem and password (or for you to log on on
their behalf) to set up the monitoring and remote diagnosis functions.
**As per your terms and conditions, payment is required of your remaining balance
within 7 days of the I Want Energy solar installation.**
Waiting for the other guys:
The day we complete the installation we submit an electrical work request (EWR) to TasNetworks,
the second half of the meter change request . TasNetworks will pass on the EWR to your retailer,
Aurora Energy, who will then contact you seeking permission to enter your property and turn off
your power supply when the new meter is installed.
Once you have granted permission to Aurora, they will raise a work order asking a separate
company, Metering Dynamics, to install your new meter. You will then be contacted by a
Metering Dynamics representative to book an appointment. We are unable to give a lead time for
5
this as Metering Dynamics are independent of us, but this typically takes about six weeks. Your
solar energy system will not work until the meter change over has been completed.
Connection:
When your meter has been changed over, you will be able to turn your system on and start
enjoying your solar energy!
Should you choose, we can arrange for one of our helpful staff to come to you and show you how
to turn your system on and run through any monitoring systems you have for your solar energy
system. To arrange this, email our office support@iwantenergy.com.au as soon as you have been
contacted and have your date of meter change over.
Meter change over
*****IMPORTANT PLEASE READ******
I Want Energy arranges most of the paperwork for your installation but there are some things we
cannot do for you.
IWE submits to TasNetworks the first half of the request for your meter change over prior
to installation.
On the day of installation IWE will submit an EWR, the second half of your meter change
request to TasNetworks
From there Aurora receive a notification from TasNetworks. Aurora will contact you to obtain
permission to enter your property, PLEASE make sure you respond to this. If you do
not give permission your meter will not be changed over and your system cannot be turned on.
Once permission has been gained, a company called Metering Dynamics will contact you
directly to organise the meter change over. The current lead time is about six weeks
but may vary and is out of our control.
Once your meter has been changed over you can turn your system on or contact us to assist.
Aurora will charge for the change over, this will appear on your next bill and is not included in
your proposal. Please see https://www.auroraenergy.com.au/your-home for pricing.

Small Scale Technology Certificates (STC’s) also known as Solar Credits
The Renewable Energy Target (RET) is an Australian Government scheme designed to reduce
emissions of greenhouse gases in the electricity sector from coal and gas fired power stations
and encourage the additional generation of electricity from sustainable and renewable sources
such as large-scale hydropower facilities and wind farms, and small-scale solar hot water and
solar rooftop panels.
The Renewable Energy Target works by allowing renewable energy generators to create
certificates for every megawatt hour of power they generate:
large-scale renewable power stations create large-scale generation certificates, and
the owners of small-scale renewable systems create small-scale technology certificates.
These certificates are purchased by electricity retailers (who supply electricity to households and
businesses) and submitted to the Clean Energy Regulator to meet the retailers' legal obligations
under the Renewable Energy Target. This creates a market in certificates that provides financial
incentives to both large-scale renewable energy power stations and the owners of small-scale
renewable energy systems.
Under the Small-Scale Renewable Energy Scheme, eligible small-scale renewable energy
systems are entitled to a number of small-scale technology certificates (STCs). The number of
certificates that can be created per system is based on its geographical location, installation date
and the amount of electricity in megawatt hours (MWh) that is:
generated by the small-scale solar panel, wind or hydro system over one or five years, or
a single maximum deeming period, or
displaced by the solar water heater or heat pump over its lifetime of up to 10 years.
As a guide, one certificate is equal to one megawatt hour of eligible renewable electricity either
generated or displaced by the system. Further information can be found on:
http://www.cleanenergyregulator.gov.au/RET/About-the-Renewable-Energy-Target
7
What is Formbay?
As your solar energy retailer, we request your authority to assign the small-scale technology
certificates (STCs) to IWE. This enables us to create and own the certificates, which we sell to
provide you a discount on the system price. You can see your small-scale technology certificates
discount on your proposal and on your invoice under STC.
Formbay is an online platform used to create the certificates that allows agents, retailers and
installers to process STCs efficiently without the need for paper.
Your installer will arrange for you to sign your STC assignment electronically on the day of
installation.
